SUMMER SKILLS SESSIONS

Many teams have begun Summer Skills Sessions. Following is a schedule for the girl's program Skills Sessions:

Monday - Girl's U13/15

Wednesday - Girl's U11

Thursday - Girl's U9

Saturday - Girl's Select ( N.S. Fishercats) U13/15

Since we are under Phase III, step 1, girl's lacrosse is allowed to scrimmage and play non-contact games.

Here are THE RULES:

Prior to attending practice...

  • All players MUST fill out a  WAIVER each time
  • prior to arriving at the field.
  • This form must be completed by the morning of or you will not be able to attend practice.
  • Players are required to check their temperature at home prior to coming to practice. If they (or anyone in their household) has symptoms they are required to stay home.
  • Any athlete, parent, or coach who experiences illness, fever or symptoms of COVID-19 should not attend our events.
  • Athletes or staff who traveled via public transportation, who had contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19, or who have traveled outside of New England, NY, NJ, or internationally should not attend our events for 14 days.

When you arrive at the field...

  • BAGS are NOW permitted ON THE FIELD, but we will be watching closely to make sure they are placed at least 6 feet apart!
  • Girls must use hand sanitizer when they arrive at the field - we will have some. We no longer need to wipe down equipment.
  • Parents should stay in their car or drop off and return for pick up. Non-West Newbury residents must put a sign in their car that says "Youth Sports" because permits are required for parking now at Pipestave.
  • Parents who are outside of their vehicles need to wear a mask.
  • We ask that parents stay socially distant from each other, our athletes and our coaches while attending our activities. Parents/spectators are not allowed around the perimeter of the playing surface.
  • We have "open time" between sessions so players can leave and arrive without congestion. We ask that players & parents leave the facility in a timely manner at the conclusion of each session and that they keep 6 feet apart when walking up the hill to their cars. We had a hard time getting them to cooperate with this rule. If they do not follow the rules, we may have to ask them to wear a mask when walking to and from the field.
  • Players should not leave their cars and enter the field until 15 minutes before their scheduled session.
  • Coaches will help facilitate entering and exiting the field.
  • Athletes must bring their own water and should not share water bottles. Water bottles must be reusable and water/sports drinks brought from home.  DO NOT bring single-use water/sport drink bottles - because they can get mixed up.

Players will be given a preassigned group letter for each session. We will break the groups into manageable station-sized groups. It is your responsibility to arrive at the field and know where to go. The field will be broken up into stations with 1 coach per station. You will be given a Letter and will be expected to go directly from the welcome table to that station, where a coach will be holding a piece of paper with that letter.

During practice...

  • Coaches and staff will keep a 6-foot distance from parents and athletes. They will wear masks or face shields in situations when that is not possible.
  • Players are not required to wear masks but will be instructed to keep socially distant by their coaches throughout the practice.
  • Training will be limited to no more than 25 participants (22 participants and 3 coaches) on 1/2 of the field per session.
  • Given the size of the field, we anticipate having 2 groups per field.
  • There will be no high-fives, handshakes, or huddles.
  • Athletes should not touch each other's equipment, water bottles, etc.
  • Athletes should NOT pick up balls with their hands.
  • We will sanitize the balls after each session with spray

FALL BALL Registration will be opening in the next few weeks. We will begin Fall Ball the last weekend in August. Stay tuned for more details.
